Dozens of crus (DOC/DOCG) are produced in the provinces of Biella, Vercelli, and Novara, Boca, Bramaterra, Coste della Sesia, Gattinara, Ghemme, and Lessona. Our grapes belong to the DOC Bramaterra (red) and Coste della Sesia (rosato). The vineyards are located in the towns of Brusnengo and Roasio, stretching from the rice fields of the Po Valley to a range of hills of 500–650 to 1,800 meters above sea level, which finally reach the peak of Monte Rosa at 4,634 meters above sea level.
The historic vineyard, formerly Pietro Casetti & Figli, is located on porphyry sandy soil in the Brusnengo village center, framed by the elementary school and the town hall. We replanted this vineyard in 2007 with mostly Nebbiolo and some Vespolina and Croatina grapes. The little working cottage at the top of the hill, shaded by three palm trees, has become the emblem of our vineyard Le Pianelle.
From the main road of Roasio going towards Sostegno, turn left onto the road towards the village of Ferrancane. From there the road leads through an ancient oak forest before the view opens up onto the Roasio vineyard. It has taken a total of 5 years to buy a contiguous area, once consisting of 45 individual plots, which is now the Roasio vineyard. The wines are up to 50 years old and the soil in this mountainous region is a mixture of red porphyry and gravel.
